AN UNFINISHED LOOK AT AMERICAN
ADOLESCENTS GROWING UP IN THE 90s
MAIN STREET started as a small project in the fall of 1995. We began to follow members of a metal band in Rockland, Maine. Little by little, more and more characters showed up in front of the camera. We found ourselves documenting a bigger slice of the local youth scene. Adam is a young father to three-year-old Ashley, who likes to listen to her father's drum recordings of his band. John, the guitarist, lives with his brother Chico who just had his first date. They are all mixed up with a forest ranger who caught them having a campfire in the woods for Adam's birthday. Tiffany and Jason, a young couple in love, found each other in the street. They left their parents' home and spend their time with friends or just hanging around together. MAIN STREET is a real-life document. A video verite, it is an unfinished journey of '90s American youth, adolescence and suburbia.
